The church of the Mother of God in Bnavisi village is known by the name Kioti, and that is what people call it locally. The dedication remains that of the Virgin.
Bnavisi lies west of Gori, in the hills at the mouth of the Ateni gorge. The village also has a Holy Trinity church, and Olozi and other villages are scattered along the neighbouring valleys.
