The shrine of St. George stands in Aleksandrestskaro village in the west of Shida Kartli. The village name reads directly: tskaro means a spring, so the place is the spring of Alexander.
The area lies east of Khashuri, in the wooded hills above the valleys. The monastery of St. Athanasius at Karta stands a little over a kilometre away, and Tsiplovana with the Saterdze monastery begins to the north.
The shrine can be approached at any time. Candles and modest offerings are left here, gifts of others are not touched, and the place deserves careful treatment.
