The cyclopean fortress lies on a hill east of Khospio village in Akhalkalaki Municipality. Sources assign it to the Bronze Age, making it the earliest site on our list: millennia still separated it from the first Christian churches.
The walls of the fortress are ruined and only small fragments survive around the hill. They show that the masonry was laid dry, without mortar, in large stone, and it is precisely this technique that is called cyclopean.
A new chapel has been built on the northern side of the hill, so the place keeps working as a shrine thousands of years after its first builders. The village holds two more listed churches: the 10th century church of Saint George in the national category and the church of Saint Nino.
