The church dedicated to Saint George stands at the foot of the Gogasheni church complex, below the main building. The lower churches of such ensembles usually served the parish, while the upper one was the principal church.
The Gogasheni complex brings together several buildings: the main church of John the Baptist, this church and the Archangel ruins about a kilometre away. The village belongs to Aspindza Municipality, to the dry stony district at the entrance to the Kura valley. Vardzia and Khertvisi are not far away.
Keep a restrained manner: for nearby villages this is a working place of prayer. The site remains part of the everyday life of the area, and that deserves respect.
