The ruins of the church of the Archangel stand in the cemetery of Gogasheni village in Akhalkalaki Municipality. The hall like building is laid of well worked ashlars and sources assign it to the 12th and 13th centuries.
The entrance is on the south. The east and west walls each held a window: the west sill survives, while whether windows stood in the other walls is not known now. The east window had a surround, the west one had a surround of the same kind, and a relief cross is carved above it.
A semicircular apse is separated from the hall by side walls, a pair of pilasters stands at the middle of the long walls and evidently carried the arch of the vault. There was another window arrangement on the south side of the church, but its details can no longer be read.
