The church of the Archangels in Lakhushdi carries a second name as well, Tanghili. Dedications to the Archangels are almost as frequent in Svaneti as those to St. George, and double names are usual here: one comes from the shrine, the other from the place.
Lakhushdi belongs to the Lenjeri group of villages, seven kilometres from Mestia. Eight hundred metres away stands the church of the Saviour of the same village, and two and a half kilometres off the shrines of Lahili and the ruins of Zagri Matskhvari.
Small Svan churches rarely hold regular services, yet the shrine can be approached at any time. Follow the coordinates.
