The house is dedicated to the Virgin. Monasteries are few in Lechkhumi and nearly all of them small: the district is poor in large houses of prayer yet rich in village parishes scattered along the slopes.
Lasuriashi lies four kilometres from Tsageri, in the valley above the river. The nameless church of Dekhviri stands about two kilometres away, the church of the Virgin at Kveda Lukhvano three, the church near Larchvali four and a half, the Dormition church in Tsageri itself four.
The usual monastic rules apply: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf and skirt for women, quiet in the yard. Photography inside is not always welcome, and asking is easier than apologising. The road from Tsageri is short and passable all year, and the house is visible from the approach, hard to miss.
