The church is called Gregorian, and sometimes Armenian Gregorian. That was the historical name for churches of the Armenian Apostolic tradition, after Gregory the Illuminator, the baptiser of Armenia. To which community the place belongs today is not stated here, and we will not assert it.
Lailashi lies nine kilometres from Tsageri, in the Tskhenistskali valley. The village synagogue stands only a hundred and fifty metres away: two houses of prayer of different traditions within one street are a rarity for Lechkhumi and speak of a village of several tongues. The church of Lajani stands two and a half kilometres off.
The building is viewed from outside, and getting in is not always possible. The usual rules of a visit: modest dress, quiet, nothing moved. Lechkhumi is damp and rain is possible in any season, so closed shoes are better.
