Naeklesiari means the site where a church once stood. Here it carries the name of St. George; the place is also referred to as the ruins of a church, so little of the building survives.
Upureti lies in the foothills north of the Mtkvari, and the village holds several shrines. Almost alongside, a hundred paces away, stands the village niche, about two kilometres off the Lomisa niche and the Upureti church of St. George, further still the church of the Transfiguration at Kochoba. A namesake by dedication stands close by, so follow the coordinates rather than the name.
What there is to see here is the ground and the remains of masonry rather than walls. Such a place asks for care: do not move the stones, do not step onto the foundation, leave no traces. Dry weather makes the climb over the grass easier.
