This Upureti shrine is known by a single word, niche: a small place of prayer rather than a built church with a parish. Neither a name nor a dedication has stayed with it.
It is the second niche of the village: the Lomisa one stands about a kilometre and seven hundred and fifty metres away. The church of St George in Upureti lies a kilometre and seven hundred metres off, and the Transfiguration church at Kochoba almost two and a half kilometres.
The site is open, there are no gates, and you can come at any hour. The candles, cloths and what others have left are better left untouched. The tracks between the Upureti shrines are country ones, and all four are more easily walked on foot.
