The name of this sakdari is an unusual one: in Georgian it coincides with the word for a crow. Names of birds and beasts are not rare among mountain shrines and usually come from a tract or a local tale, yet here no explanation of the name has survived.
The sakdari stands in Lami, in the mountains north of Mtskheta. The niche of St. Lomisa rises about four hundred metres away, the church of St. George seven hundred, the three places of prayer nine hundred. The name is not unique: Pshaveli has a Crow sakdari of its own and Akhasheni a Crow church, both tens of kilometres from here.
The place is high and open, windy in any weather. It can be approached at any hour, for nothing is locked here. Take nothing away and move nothing, and leave the candles where others set them before you.
