The church of St Nino with a small monastic community stands in the upper part of Mamkoda village. The church carries a second name, Vejinis St Nino, and the area knows it by that name too.
The community sits on a slope away from the main village street, surrounded by woodland and old orchards. Half a kilometre downhill survives a palace naeklesiari, the site of an old church.
Ordinary monastic rules apply here: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet, and photography by permission.
