This spot in the upper part of Mamkoda is called the St George salotsavi. Salotsavi is Georgian for a place of prayer: people come to pray and leave a candle, and it is open at any hour.
The site stands on an open slope, with a small village church a couple of hundred metres away and the St Nino community a little further on.
Quiet and modest dress are appropriate. Offerings and candles are left where they are, taken away by no one and moved by no one.
