The small chapel bears the name Vardzia and lies in ruins. In Georgia that name is known from an entirely different place, the cave town in Samtskhe Javakheti, but this Vardzia has nothing to do with it: that monastery is a hundred and fifty kilometres from here.
The ruins stand near Kariaki, north-east of Tsalka. Less than a kilometre away, closer to the village itself, stands the chapel of the apostles Peter and Paul, left from the vanished village of Ukana Chitebi.
No services are held here and the place is open. A tip for the road: searching by name is useless, any navigator leads to the cave town, so go by the coordinates instead.
