A prayer place of Saint Sabas in Akhalsheni. Sabas the Sanctified, one of the founders of Palestinian monasticism, gave his name to the monastic rule by which Orthodox churches serve to this day.
This is the westernmost shrine of the group, and rather more separates it from the rest than separates them from each other: about two hundred and eighty metres to the prayer place of Saint Sophia and around four hundred to the main Dormition church.
When walking the group this church is best left for the start or the end. Prayer places keep no order of their own and can be approached at any time; keep to the usual restraint.
