Samlotsvelo is the Georgian word for a small prayer place, a chapel with no parish and no regular service. This one is left from the village of Vardisubani, which emptied while the chapel survived.
The spot lies near Kaburi, north of Tsalka. The name Vardisubani is common in Georgia: another village of the same name stands in Dmanisi Municipality some forty kilometres away, and that is a different place entirely. A kilometre from this chapel lie the ruins of another small shrine known as Vardzia.
There are no regular services here and the place can be visited at any time. The last few hundred metres are a dirt track, so in wet weather it is better to walk.
