  • Description

The domed Church of St. George is a pearl of architectural heritage in the heart of Kvemo Kartli, the village of Dashbashi. This amazing building of the "Free Cross" type takes us back to ancient times, flavored with the wise greatness of the 10th-11th centuries, when it was erected by order of Trialeti Eristav-Eristavi Rati.

Resting serenely on the right cliff of the Khrami River, the Church of St. George personifies grandeur and spirituality. Its hewn stone walls in the shape of a cross, with an elegant semicircular apse in the east, inspire awe and admiration for their grandeur. Two entrances, one of which is decorated with a mighty stone cover, greet guests with a welcoming invitation to a majestic encounter with history.

The inscriptions on the top of the southern door and on the eastern wall, like mysterious messages from the times, tell of the past, enriching every traveler's visit with historical treasures. Once again revitalized by restoration, this sacred temple stands as an enduring witness of time, wisely preserving the secrets of the past.

And around the church, like a space filled with fairy-tale figures, stretches a cemetery, crowned with stone sculptures and images of horses. This is not just a cemetery, but rather an open-air museum, embodying a deep connection with the culture and traditions of these lands.

We invite you to take a journey into the heart of Georgia, where time slows down to allow you to experience the spirit of antiquity and beauty, enjoying the majestic architecture and mysterious history of the domed church of St. George.
