  • Description

The Church of the Mother of God is a living witness of history and cultural heritage. Its mighty walls are fortified in the municipality of Tsalka, in the picturesque village of Dashbashi, which is located in the lands of Kvemo Kartli.

Initially, an ancient Georgian church stood in these places, but in the 19th century, on its ruins, at the call of local Armenians, a new temple structure was erected. Today, only the apse remains from the original building, but it seems to personify ancient legends and the power of faith. According to the plan, it is a hall with a curved apse directed to the east. Unfortunately, the roof has long since collapsed, and the northern wall has been destroyed to the ground. However, even in its sad beauty, the church continues to inspire.

Previously, ancient inscriptions were kept on the walls of the church for centuries, but they, like many other precious traces of time, have been lost. The remains of monuments and inscriptions left in the temple courtyard only emphasize its historical significance. In recent years, local residents have been taking care of the interior and the well-groomed yard, trying to preserve and pass on this piece of the past to future generations.

If you are interested in history and architecture, then a visit to the Church of the Mother of God will be a real discovery. Here you can feel the power of time and the wisdom of centuries, shrouded in an atmosphere of mystery and mystery that will undoubtedly leave its mark on your memory.
