The church is dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul and belongs by rite to the Greek Orthodox tradition. Bareti lies within the belt of Greek villages on the Tsalka upland, and such churches stand here beside Georgian ones without differing from them outwardly.
Bareti holds eight shrines, and almost all of them are gathered in a compact group: the prayer places of Saint Elias and Saint Barbare at a hundred and twenty metres, the ruins of the old village church at two hundred and twenty, and further on Saint Demetre and Saint Constantine.
All of Bareti can be walked in one stroll, and it is worth allowing at least an hour for it. In the working churches keep to the usual rules, and treat the ruins with care: they are as much a shrine of the village, only without a roof.
