The church of the Mother of God stands in the northern part of Sioni. Unlike its collapsed neighbour the building holds whole, though it has long had no permanent parish.
It is about a kilometre from here to the ruined Sioni church and less again, some seven hundred and fifty metres, to the church in Akhkula. All three shrines lie in one valley east of Bolnisi and are well seen on a single trip.
There are no regular services here, and getting inside is arranged with the residents. The place is quiet, and cattle usually graze by the walls.
