The church of St George stands in Akhkula, east of Bolnisi. The village is small and this is its only church.
Neighbours, however, are plentiful: two hundred and sixty metres away is the collapsed church of Sioni village, and seven hundred and fifty metres its Mother of God church. The three shrines lie in one valley and can be walked in half an hour.
There are no regular services here and people come freely. A dirt road runs between the churches, and after rain it is better to leave the car and walk.
