The church is known by the name Shikhilo. What stands behind that word, a place name or a family name, is not established, and no dedication has stuck to the church: the area knows it by this short name alone.
The place lies in Tetritskaro municipality, away from the inhabited villages. Four kilometres from here stands Pitareti, one of the best known monasteries of this part of Kvemo Kartli, and three and a half kilometres away the two churches of the village of Itsria.
The road passes by rather than to it and no signposts should be expected, so go by the coordinates and plan the stop together with Pitareti. The usual rules apply: covered shoulders and knees, quiet, and care for the building.
