In the very heart of Kvemo Kartli, surrounded by majestic nature and the wise rivers Torneo and Khrami, is the ancient monastic complex Sabero, as if lost in time. Built between the 11th and 13th centuries, this complex is a true architectural marvel with two churches, a refectory, a palace and a bell tower.
Despite the visible damage, every stone of this complex bears traces of a majestic history. The churches, although on the verge of destruction, still delight with their ancient architectural details. The main church, a hall-type temple, is fenced on all sides, like an ancient guard guarding the secrets of the centuries.
Walking around the complex, you can see the ruins of a bell tower and a large residential palace, which, despite their condition, still radiate the spirit of bygone times. The walls of the refectory, decorated with arched windows and semicircular niches, tell their own stories, full of secrets and mysteries.
Although time has left its mark, this monastery complex still remains a majestic testimony to the development of medieval Georgia. A visit to it will be a real immersion in the history of this amazing country, opening the doors to a distant past full of mysteries and secrets.
