The church of the Ascension belonged to a village whose name has not come down to us: only the dedication and the building itself survive. This happens often enough: a village goes before its name takes hold in the memory of the district.
The church stands near Mokhisi, north-west of Tetri Tskaro. The country here is hilly and thinly settled, with several kilometres between villages, and the neighbouring old churches lie far apart.
There are no regular services and the church is freely approached. People rarely go inside, and it is worth remembering that the roof timbers are old.
