The church of the Virgin in Kodalo is the principal church of the village: of its three church buildings this one draws the most attention and serves as the parish centre.

Besides it Kodalo holds two more sites, both of Saint George: a chapel in the western part and a church in the east, about three and a half kilometres apart. The village is stretched out enough that two buildings of one saint effectively serve opposite ends, and they are told apart by type: the chapel is smaller and has no parish. Kodalo lies south of Gurjaani in the foothills, reached by a road that runs unpaved in places.

The church keeps no fixed schedule; service times are learned on site. Dress with shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women. All three sites can be walked in an hour or so at an unhurried pace.
