The church of Saint George stands in the eastern part of Kodalo, about three and a half kilometres from the chapel of the same dedication. The village is stretched out enough that two buildings of one saint effectively serve opposite ends, and they are told apart by type: the chapel is smaller and has no permanent parish.
By visitor attention the principal church in the village remains the church of the Virgin: it draws the most people and serves as the parish centre. Kodalo itself lies south of Gurjaani, in the foothill part of the region, reached by a road unpaved in places.
The church keeps no fixed schedule; service times are learned on site. Dress with shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women. All three sites can be walked in an hour or so.
