The church of the Virgin stands in Jimiti. In Georgian the name reads as Jimitis ghvtismshobeli, the Virgin of Jimiti: a typical construction where the toponym precedes the dedication and serves to distinguish the church among the many Marian churches of Kakheti.
The village lies south of Gurjaani, in the foothill part of the region, reached by a road off the highway that turns unpaved in places. Besides this church Jimiti holds two more: the Kviratskhoveli church in the upper part and one of Saint George to the north. All three stand within walking distance, so the village is easily covered as a whole.
A village church may keep no fixed schedule; service times are learned on site. Dress with shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women, and speak quietly on the grounds.
