The church of the Virgin in the central part of Bodbiskhevi draws the most attention among the churches of the village. The church of Saint Nicholas stands barely two hundred metres away, so seeing both takes a few minutes.
Bodbiskhevi stands out even against a Kakheti rich in churches: about half a dozen buildings scattered across its different ends, from a chapel of the Transfiguration in the west to a basilica of Cyricus and Julitta in the centre. The name of the village reads roughly as the Bodbe ravine, but the monastery of Bodbe, where Saint Nino rests, stands apart, closer to Sighnaghi.
The church keeps no fixed schedule; service times are learned on site. The churches of the village are best walked as one route from north to south, taking about an hour. Dress with shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women.
