The church of Saint Nicholas stands in the central part of Bodbiskhevi, barely two hundred metres from the village church of the Virgin: the two are easily seen in turn, taking a few minutes.
Bodbiskhevi stands out even against a Kakheti rich in churches: about half a dozen church buildings here, from a chapel of the Transfiguration to a basilica of Cyricus and Julitta. The name of the village reads roughly as the Bodbe ravine, but the monastery of Bodbe itself, where Saint Nino rests, stands apart, closer to Sighnaghi.
The church keeps no fixed schedule; service times are learned on site. The churches of the village are best walked as one route from north to south. Dress with shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women.
