The church of the Virgin Mary stands in Artana village in Telavi Municipality. The hall of about thirteen metres by seven ends on the east in a projecting semicircular apse that takes a five sided form outside and is covered by a roof of its own. The sanctuary is separated from the long walls by broad pilasters.
A small rectangular narthex adjoins the church on the west. The building is of brick, the walls are plastered and whitewashed inside and out, and it stands on a single step stone plinth. The entrance is on the west side and the doorway is covered by a straight lintel.
The hall is markedly tall and covered by a barrel vault on two hanging load bearing arches, while a third arch by the west wall passes onto the corner pilasters. The floor of the sanctuary is raised by a step and projects forward in a semicircular sweep at the centre. The sanctuary holds two tall windows with semicircular heads and three arched niches. Sources assign the church to the 19th century.
