The church is dedicated to Saint George, the most frequent name among Kakhetian village churches. It is known as the Gomarti one, after the locality of Gomarti, and that qualifier matters: a village of the same name also exists in Kvemo Kartli, at the other end of the country, so the two are easily confused.
The church stands south of Bakurtsikhe, away from the main village street, on the plain among the vineyards. Bakurtsikhe stretches along the road running from Gurjaani towards Tsnori, and the church stays inland, closer to the fields. Gurjaani is about eight kilometres away, Sighnaghi roughly the same.
The place is quiet and little visited, there is no fixed schedule of services, so you can look in on any day. The usual rules of a working church apply: covered shoulders and knees, quiet inside. The turn off the road is an unpaved track, best taken carefully after rain.
