The church of St. John the Baptist stands in the northeastern part of Vanta village in Telavi Municipality. The village has two churches with this dedication: the other one is on the western edge, so it is worth keeping the two spots apart.
Vanta lies at the foot of the Tsiv-Gombori range, on the edge of the Alazani valley. Besides the two St. John churches, the village has the Gziri Bagi church of the Virgin Mary.
Visiting is free, and modest clothing is appropriate for a service. If the church is closed, locals will tell you when services are held.
