The church known as Usaneti was built in Vachnadziani, two hundred metres from the Kashueti church. The name attached to the place rather than to a dedication, as often happens with Kakhetian village churches.
Vachnadziani belongs to Gurjaani Municipality and lies in the thick of the Kakhetian vineyards. It is a large village with several churches of different ages within walking distance. Gurjaani and the road to Telavi are both a short hop away.
Photography inside is best agreed with whoever looks after the church. The site remains part of the everyday life of the area, and that deserves respect.
Tips
- Leave spare time for the climb.
- In summer bring a hat, as there is almost no shade.
- Keep some cash for a donation, as there is no card terminal.
Getting there
- Leave the car at the nearest street and continue on foot.
- Navigate by the coordinates, as there may be no signs on the approach.
