The church is dedicated to Saint George and belongs to the densest church cluster of this part of Kakheti: three sanctuaries fit within three hundred metres here. A hundred and thirty metres away stands a village church without a dedication, and a hundred and ninety metres off another Saint George church, known by the Gujiaurebi locality.
The setting is flat, on the lands between Vachnadziani and Kalauri, north of Gurjaani, among vineyards and fields. Such proximity of churches is unusual even for Kakheti, and on the ground it is striking: all three are visible almost at once.
There is no fixed schedule of services and the site can be approached at any time. The whole cluster can be walked in ten minutes, and it makes sense to leave the car at the the other church. Field tracks turn to mud after rain, and it is then better to walk the rest of the way from the asphalt.
