The family sakdari of the Avaliants stands in Ujarma. Its dedication is told differently in the district: some call it a church of St Nicholas, others link it with St George, and both names are current.
Ujarma is a known place: an ancient fortress stands here, one of the oldest in eastern Georgia, and the village belongs to Sagarejo Municipality, though by the local roads Tbilisi feels closer. The church stands away from the fortress, among the houses.
There are no regular services and people come freely. A tip for the trip: the sakdari is convenient to see in the same outing as the fortress, which is a stone throw away.
