The church is dedicated to Saint George and stands on a street named after him. That is rare for village churches: streets in Kakhetian villages are more often unnamed, and one has to navigate by roads or neighbouring buildings.
Anaga lies in south-eastern Kakheti, only four kilometres from Sighnaghi, the walled town on the slope above the Alazani valley. Anaga itself sits lower, on the plain among vineyards, and both the Bodbe monastery and the Sighnaghi walls are close at hand.
There is no fixed schedule of services, but the village is lively and it is usually possible to step inside. The usual rules apply: covered shoulders and knees, quiet. Its closeness to Sighnaghi makes the stop a natural part of a route: the drive takes a few minutes.
