The Sachino monastery is the main sanctuary of a small foothill cluster between Akhmeta and Telavi. It is declared precisely as a monastic community rather than a parish church, and that shapes both its appearance and the order kept on its grounds.
Beside the monastery, about half a kilometre away, stands a small church of the same name, Bzasakdari, and a kilometre off the ruined church of the deserted village of Korubani and another set of ruins. All this is a compact cluster on a slope, far from inhabited villages: the nearest roads are unpaved, and around are forest and foothill meadows.
The community is active, so the rules are stricter than in a village church: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet in the yard and inside. It is better to ask before photographing the buildings. The climb up the slope is short but unpaved, and slippery after rain.
