Lipartiant Sakdari is the second family church of Chumlaki after Tatias Sakdari: the name is formed on the same pattern, the root of a surname plus a possessive ending. Lipartiani is a well-known Georgian family name that gave its name to villages and churches alike.
The church stands on the western edge of the village, further out than all the other Chumlaki sites. Two family churches in one village indicate that Chumlaki historically had several strong household clans, each with a church of its own. Such buildings form a separate, almost domestic layer of Georgian church culture.
No dating has become attached to the building. The road to the western edge of the village runs along a country track. Dress soberly and treat the walls with care.
