The Kvelatsminda church stands in the central part of Argokhi. The word means all-holy and marks a dedication to All Saints: not to one saint but to the whole assembly of them at once.
Such dedications are characteristic of Kakheti: Kvelatsminda churches stand in Ozaani in the east of the region and in Shashiani north of Vachnadziani. Argokhi lies east of Akhmeta, in the foothill belt between the Alazani valley and the climb to the Pankisi valley; nearby, a couple of kilometres off, stand Maghraani and Babaneuri with their churches.
A village church may keep no fixed schedule; service times are learned on site. Dress with shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women, and speak quietly on the grounds.
