The church in Gulgula is called darbazuli, that is a hall church: in Georgia the word marks a simple church without a dome, with a single interior space.
Gulgula lies northeast of Telavi, at the foot of slopes facing the Alazani valley. The village has two more churches: the Kviratskhoveli church three hundred metres away and the saidari known as Kvavis.
You can come at any time and quiet is expected inside. Modest dress is appropriate, and candles and offerings are left where they are.
