Ghvtaeba is a dedication rather than the name of a locality: the word means the Divine, and in the Georgian tradition churches of the Lord are called so. Another site of Maghraani carries exactly this name.
It stands higher up the slope, about four kilometres from the Archangel church, closer to the forest and the start of the climb into the mountains. From here the view opens down over the Alazani plain, and this is the highest point of the village. Further north begin the wooded slopes of the Caucasus range.
No regular services are held here and the site can be approached at any time. The road into the upper village is worse than the way to the lower church: unpaved and broken in places, and after rain it is better not to attempt it in an ordinary car. On foot the climb takes about an hour.
