The chapel of the Archangels stands in Naniani. In Georgia the dedication to the archangels Michael and Gabriel is collective and rendered by the word mtavarangelozi: the names are not usually given separately.
A church near Gomi in Shida Kartli carries exactly the same name, and such churches were often built on raised ground with a view over the surroundings. Naniani lies south of Gurjaani, in the foothill part of the region, reached by a road unpaved in places. Fields and vineyards of the Alazani valley stretch around.
The grounds are open around the clock, which for a small building means free access rather than opening hours. Dress with shoulders and knees covered and treat the chapel with care.
