The Akura Church, also known as Mamadaviti, is hidden in the forest on the right bank of the Vantiskhevi, a tributary of the Alazani. It's about a kilometer and a half from the village of Akura, and about twelve kilometers from Telavi.
The church's style dates back to the 9th century, with some sources citing 855. It is a three-aisled basilica dedicated to David Gareji, one of the Thirteen Syrian Fathers. The church is listed as a cultural monument of national significance.
There are few signs, and the number of visitors is low. Surrounded by forest and vineyards in the Tsinandali area.
