The Saghandzili ruins lie in the foothills southwest of Vanta village in Telavi Municipality. What remains of the complex are the church walls and a sadzvale - the Georgian word for an ossuary.
The spot is tucked into the spurs of the Tsiv-Gombori range, away from the inhabited part of the village. Vanta itself has active churches: two of St. John the Baptist, the Gziri Bagi church of the Virgin Mary and a St. George church.
Access is free, the road is unpaved, and dry weather makes the walk easier. The ruins and the ossuary deserve careful treatment: stones are not moved and nothing is taken away.
