A parish church of Saint Marine the Great Martyr, whose memory Georgia marks at the end of July. At the Zemo Khodasheni church we unpacked a case where the dedication wavers between Saint Mary and Saint Marine. Here there is no such uncertainty: the name is stated unambiguously.
Chorvila lies in eastern Imereti, on the road towards Sachkhere, and this is another church in the district carrying that name, after the church of the Thirteen Assyrian Fathers and the church of the Saviour by Gorisa. The century of building is not established and no details have survived.
The parish is rural and services are infrequent. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. If the doors are locked, ask about the time in the village.
