A male monastic house dedicated to Saint George, the only monastic community in this village cluster. It also carries a popular name, Kontsolia, which runs alongside the formal one.
The house stands above the Kvirila valley by the village of Zeda Sakara, and the climb to it begins below, from the valley road. Lower down lies Lower Sakara with its own parish, while the Dilikauri quarter of the same village holds two parish churches, of the Mother of God and of Saint George. The century of foundation is not established.
The usual monastic rules apply: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf and skirt for women, voices kept low. The first half of the day is the better time to come: monastic life keeps its own order and is not arranged around visitors.
