A parish church of Saint George, one of two in the village. The dedication is the commonest in the country, and in small Orpiri it belongs to the main church of the community.
The village name is built from two Georgian words and means roughly two mouths: it was used for places where rivers meet. Imeretian villages often took their names from water, and this is precisely the case where a toponym describes the geography more accurately than any guidebook. Orpiri lies north-west of Kutaisi in the foothills, and the village is compact: a few minutes separate one church from the other. The century of building is not established.
The parish is rural and services follow the church year. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. Both village churches can be seen in one visit.
