The Gogolashvili family church, dedicated to the Ascension. Churches like this were built and maintained by a single family and lived a household life as much as a parish one. We have met similar places already: the Jogejiani okhvame in Zugdidi and the Andronikashvili Ghvtaeba in Kakheti.
Three attachments meet in the name of the church: Kursebi, the Zenobni locality and the surname. It stands in the surroundings of Okhomira, between Kursebi and the village, north-west of Kutaisi. The dedication coincides with another church of the same village, so the two are told apart by the surname: they stand about two and a half kilometres apart. The century of building is not established.
The site is a family one and calls for more restraint than an ordinary parish. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. Before setting out it is worth knowing which of the two Ascension churches you are heading for.
