A village church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God. The feast falls in early autumn and opens the church year, while in a Georgian village it coincides with the end of the harvest.

The village name echoes nakhshiri, coal, and the reading looks plausible: Nakhshirghele lies in the same belt north of Kutaisi as Tkibuli and Kursebi, which is the old coal district of Imereti. There is no direct confirmation of that etymology, so we leave it likely rather than proven. The century of building is not established.

The parish is rural and services are infrequent. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. If the doors are locked, ask about the time in the village.
