A village church of the Resurrection of the Saviour. It also carries a second name, Oqona: what stands behind it, a local name for the site, the memory of an earlier building or something else, is not explained. We give the name and leave the explanation open.

Chkhari is a fairly large village for this part of Imereti, strung along the road north-east of Zestafoni. It holds several churches: besides the Resurrection one the village has a church of the Mother of God and a hall church of Saint George, the last two only two hundred metres apart. The century of building is not established.

The parish is rural and services follow the church year. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. All three Chkhari churches can be walked in an hour.
